Services Offered

  • Dunham House offers a continuum of service which includes inpatient and outpatient programs, as well as an alumni program. As part of our residential services, we offer a variety of alternative approaches such as music therapy, yoga, equine-assisted therapy, pottery and our new horticultural therapy program.

  • Dunham House provides outpatient services for those that are looking to continue their recovery journey or are just beginning their road to recovery. Our outpatient program consists of individual and group counselling. Following one of our programs, individuals are encouraged to get involved in our alumni groups.

Treatment

  • Dunham House offers various lengths of treatment from 30 days to 6 months for inpatient treatment and a 3 month or 1 year of outpatient services. During the initial evaluation, length of stay will be determined based on the individual’s situation and needs for service.

  • Dunham House treatment program specializes in dual diagnosis, offering evidence-based treatment when working with substance use and mental health concurrently.  Our treatment modality consists of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.

  • Our clinical staff have all been trained to provide evidence-based approaches that respect the individual’s situation and confidentiality. Our counsellors include those who are trained in social work, addiction and mental health and somatic interventions.

Admissions

  • Many factors go into determining the cost of treatment, such as type of program and length of stay. In order to assess your situation please give us a call and speak with one of our admission staff. Third party financing is also available through IFINANCE CANADA

  • The process of admission begins with the completion of our admission form. An admission staff will then give you a call to discuss next steps. A typical processing time consists of 2-4 days, but our waitlist can vary.

  • Yes, we accept referrals from both out of province and out of country applicants. Specific details will be discussed during the initial interview.

Family Involvement

  • No. Family members do not need to be involved in an individual’s treatment program. However, we do recommend where appropriate for family members, spouses, children to be part of the recovery process. Starting in fall 2024, Dunham House will offer family services for those looking for support.

  • Yes, family members, spouses and children are encouraged to visit their loved ones while in treatment. Visitations occur on weekends and are organized by a staff member. For more information please give us a call at (450) 263-3434.

Facility Policies

  • Cell phones, computers, tablets are not allowed to be used while in treatment unless of an emergency. There are computers and phones onsite for those that want to connect with their loved ones or for work obligations.

  • Each room has a maximum of 2 people. We encourage being social and meeting new people in recovery, while breaking free from isolation.

  • Dunham House can meet most dietary restrictions such as vegan and vegetarian. For your specific needs, please mention this during your admission interview.

  • Depending on the length of stay, there are different guidelines on what is allowed and what is not. Here are a few items on what to pack and not pack

    Pack: A valid health card, toiletries (alcohol free), appropriate seasonal clothing, insurance documents (when applicable), cellphone (no access while in treatment) and some cash.

    Don’t pack: valuables (jewellery, large sums of money), gang, alcohol or drug related clothing or paraphernalia.
